TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of using a visa exemption for re-entry to Thailand by briefly transiting through Kuala Lumpur without leaving the airport. Most participants agree that it is feasible, especially for those without a long history of consecutive visa exemptions or tourist entries. Key considerations include ensuring proper documentation such as proof of funds, onward travel, and hotel bookings in case airport authorities ask for them. It is also noted that one can transit without needing to go through Malaysian immigration, provided they keep their boarding passes.
If you book one way flights each way you get more workable options in making the turnaround.
Also while it if a long walk to Malaysian immigration - it is not that big a problem. I did this and booked enough time to go through immigration - get a sandwich and return to a boarding gate.
And take note - Malaysia has a different time zone than Bkk. Just Google - time in Kuala Lumpur and see.
I would say IF you don't have an extensive history of living here on back-2-back visa exempt or tourist visa entries you should be fine. The passport control people at the airport can always ask you to show proof of 20K baht, proof of onward travel & proof of a hotel booking IF they want to.
You can fly down in the morning, stay in the transit area and fly right back that afternoon if you want to. In fact you don't even have to stamp in and out of Malaysia (just keep your boarding passes to show you were there).
