Will I have trouble entering Thailand with a voided visa if my passport allows for a 30-day exemption?

Looking for some advice. I applied for a 60 day visa to Thailand, which was inserted into my passport and then had "VOID" written across it in red pen. I was sent an email to say that I can still enter for 30 days as my passport allows me a 30 day visa exemption period. Will I have trouble entering at the border?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a 60-day visa for Thailand, which was marked as 'VOID' in their passport, but they were informed via email that they can still enter under a 30-day visa exemption. There were several comments discussing similar experiences about visa troubles, the specific challenges faced by South African nationals, and reassurance that the user should have no issues entering Thailand with the visa exemption. It was advised that carrying proof of funds may be necessary upon arrival.

I've no idea of the reasons other than it appears to be spreading. I would hazard a guess on it being political.

No more odd I guess than reports of people being denied entry on ME Tourist visas when immigration say you have had too many entries. I guess there's a criteria in the system that simply says no.

Much the same as KL and others now simply refusing visas to SA passport holders. They quite simply for some reason, don't want SA passport holders in the country for longer than 30 days.

I've no idea of the policy of that particular embassy or consulate.

Perhaps the checkers are paying attention to who they are being issued too?

No explanation for being void?

My pleasure and make sure you are carrying sufficient cash on arrival, as they mention in the link. Immigration may (although they rarely do) ask to see proof of funds on arrival. If you don't have it, you can be denied entry.

South African nationals have a very difficult time getting visas for this country as well.

thanks for the info - makes me feel a lot better since I've booked everything already!

Just usually they don't send out that email informing you of the visa-exempt option instead, rather nice of them I think.

You should have no issues whatsoever, you are not the first person by far to have posted of such "irregularities" in this group.

so does that mean I shouldn't have an issue at the border?

Your visa was initially approved, then later denied and cancelled by a higher-up official. Nice they sent you an email informing you about arriving by Visa-Exempt.

No and I've never had trouble with the law or anything like that.
