A friend has just asked me this question,

He’s from the uk and has visited Thailand once, before covid.

Aup mate, hope you're good!

Not sure if you can help me or not, I'm trying to figure something out about Thailand visas.

I'm coming to Thailand for NYE and will be staying for 4 days, then planning to go to Vietnam for 5 days and then go back to Thailand for a couple more weeks after Vietnam.

I know I can get a 30 day visa for Thailand but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to enter Thailand then leave Thailand and then re-enter Thailand?

Or do I need a multiple entry visa instead?

It's not very clear online 🤔

I’ve said that voa will do as it’s just like doing a border run or have the rules changed any?

Thanks folks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder can enter Thailand visa-exempt for 30 days upon each entry. Since the traveler plans to return to Thailand after visiting Vietnam, they should be able to re-enter without issues, provided their stays are within 30 days each. It's advisable to have proof of onward travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds, especially for the second entry, though frequent checks are uncommon.

UK passport holder is eligible for visa-exempt entry (without a real visa, entering for free. NOT Visa On Arrival), and will be stamped for 30 days upon entry. From his itinerary, each stay is far shorter than 30 days, and it is his first trip to Thailand after long years, he wouldn't have a problem entering Thailand on visa-exempt each time.

Having 3-proof-of (onward travel ticket, accommodation, funds of

thb cash) might be good especially for 2nd entry, just in case. Not-so-frequent traveler is rarely asked for though.
