Can anyone tell me if the 30 day visa is still ongoing, the one you fill out on the plane before arriving in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation confirms that the 30-day visa exemption (often referred to as the visa upon arrival for certain nationalities) is still available. However, it emphasizes that all travelers entering Thailand now require a Certificate of Entry or the Thailand Pass, regardless of their visa situation. Additionally, there are reminders about the potential disconnection between Thai consulates and local immigration offices regarding visa information and extensions.

Important reminder about visas and extension of stays:
Visas issued outside of Thailand are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Visas and extension of stay issued at the local immigration office are issued by the Thai Police.
These two organizations do not talk to each other.
Never ever trust what an Thai consulate says about getting an extension of stay, and never ever trust what an immigration office says about getting a visa outside of Thailand.

I removed a couple of comments.
1. What Jason is mentioning is called a visa exempt. This allows people from certain nationalities to enter Thailand, for free, for 30 days.
2. To enter Thailand, Jason will need an "entry permit", which requires a Certificate of Entry (or the new Thailand Pass). At this time, this group does not discuss "Certificate of Entries" or "Thailand Pass". EVERYONE requires this document, regardless of the visa ,or if they are Thai or otherwise.
