My daughter and familly come over Thailand for 3 months in December
The normal entrance visa at airport immigration is 2 months, we are scare to be refused to entry Thailand with our flight booking 3 months later
What should we do to be sure to get entry at the border airport
Of course they will demand a extension of 30 days more when then are in Thailand
Thanks for your return

TLDR : Answer Summary
Jean Michel from Switzerland is concerned about his family's entry into Thailand for a three-month visit, given that the standard immigration allowance is only two months on arrival. He seeks advice on how to ensure they will be allowed to enter without issues, especially regarding airline requirements for proof of exit within the visa duration and the likelihood of securing an extension while in Thailand.

The rules are that you have to have a return flight booked withing the terms of your visa or visa waver so you might not even be allowed to board the flight as the airline is responsible for bringing you back if you are denied entry. Also I see they they will DEMAND an extension, I can assure you that if they try to demand anything from Immigration then they are likely to be told no, extensions are issued at the discretion of the Immigration officer. Remember that if they do come then entry will be down to the officer at the border control and they can refuse entry for what ever reason they feel fit and making demands are likely to be treated badly. Visitors to Thailand and any other country in the world are guests of that country and should remember that, you have no right to demand anything from a country you are a guest of.
John Hicks As I often say, I'm no expert and only reply with what I have been told or experienced first hand. When I came to Thailand in 2012 on a non-O visa with the intention of retiring here I came on a one-way flight with no booking to leave Thailand and was refused boarding at the airport, I then showed them my non-O visa and explained that I was going to get a retirement extension and didn't intend to leave and they let me board. As far as I know as long as you have some booking to leave Thailand and I think (don't know for sure) that if you have a flight to say Vietnam withing the duration of your visa then that's fine. Having said that I know a lot of people come to Thailand with return flights booked more than 60 days and less than 90 days because they are expecting to get a 30 day extension but the extension isn't guaranteed and you might get refused entry or boarding. Some people are recommending booking a return flight within the 60 days and changing it after arriving, really cheap flight to Vietnam during the 60 days might be the cheapest option especially if it can be cancelled.
Are you talking about your family coming next December for a trip? If so be aware that there is talk of the 60 days visa exempt entry being reduced to 30 days so keep a watch out for that, if it does reduce they can just get tourist visas which are also 60 days plus 30. But their biggest worry should be the airline they will fly with, many airlines require you to have a ticket out of Thailand within the initial 60 days period so check with them
I agree . Japan airlines was going to refuse me to board because my return ticket was over 60 days. I did show them where I had documentation for a visa in progress for long stay and they did not care. Lady kindly suggested I buy an onward ticket and they let me board with that receipt even though the ticket had not arrived yet.
Your post is confusing. Do you want to stay for 2 months plus 1 month extension, and your return flight is for 3 months after your arrival? If that is the case, book a cheap flight or a "virtual ticket" @ onward ticket, (because you might actually need to show a ticket within the original 2 months of your permitted stay). Cancel the ticket once you are in Thailand and go for the 1 month extension as normal. If you want to stay 2x3 months, then it'll be difficult....
In between the lines and piecing the broken english together, it sounds like his family came last december for 3 months and want to enter again for another 3 months, which would be 6 months
Jean-Michel Huguenin Have you read through the comments and do you understand that many posters do NOT understand your post ?
Did you COME last December ? Or are you coming in December of 2026 ? Do you have ANY history of Thailand visits ?
If you're COMING in 9 months, this coming December, and the 60-day visa-exempt entry is still in effect, unless there are any problems with you or your family, you will get a 60-day permission when you arrive.
The 30-day extension is almost automatic unless you mess up badly during your 60-day stay.
