Hello all. I have just come to Thailand and staying in Bangkok on a 45 day tourist exempt visa (I am from the US). I have an apartment lined up now for a 1 year lease and plan on opening a bank account as soon as I get the paperwork for the rental agreement. I can't find any information about how many entries I can do on both a non-immigrant O visa as well as the follow up with the year long retirement visa. I will eventually have to go back to the States for visiting family as well as I would like to travel to neighboring countries here. Any advice about what to do for multiple entries on these visas? Also, if anyone has run into unexpected hitches while applying I appreciate the advice since I'd like to plan for the unexpected. Thank you all!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information about the number of entries possible with a non-immigrant O visa and a retirement visa in Thailand, especially regarding traveling back to the US and visiting neighboring countries. A comment clarifies that the non-O visa based on retirement is a single entry visa, needing a re-entry permit for leaving the country. The costs for these permits are also mentioned, emphasizing that they do not extend visa expiration dates.

Non-O based on retirement is single entry, as is the yearly extension. If you want to leave the country you need to buy a reentry permit before you leave. Single is 1000 baht, multiple reentry is 3800 baht (valid for the length of your extension). Note the reentry permit doesn't change any expiration dates, if you're outside when you visa or extension expires you need to start the processes again.
This is so helpful! Thank you so much for putting it together all so concisely. I take it I can apply for the reentry permit anytime. As in I do not have to apply for that at the same time as the non-immigrant O visa, correct?
