Immigration won’t accept my last 15 months of deposits to extend my married visa. They told me I need to get an affidavit of income verification by my embassy, which doesn’t do it anymore. I’ve never had a problem in previous years.

Now. I need to extend my married visa for two months so I can put ฿400,000 in the bank. Can I get an extension for 60 days at immigration or will I have to go to Laos. I haven’t had to do that since 2006.

Are there any immigration offices that accept the monthly deposits without getting the income verification from my embassy?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their married visa after the immigration office requested an affidavit of income verification from their embassy, which is no longer issued. They want to know if they can get a 60-day extension while they wait for ฿400,000 to be deposited in their bank account, and if there are immigration offices that accept monthly deposits without needing embassy verification. Comments suggest that some immigration offices may accept credit advice notices from banks instead of embassy certification. Additionally, alternatives like using a family visit extension or switching to a different visa type, like the DTV visa, were discussed.

You should switch to DTV visa

What nationality are you?

Probably need to hire an agency now to get around the income

Pink envelopes work well 🕶

Changwattana has no problem with using Credit Advice notices from the bank if your embassy no longer certifies income. This is my experience for the past several years. They are aware of the embassy issue and have procedures to prove the income is transferred from overseas.
Greg ******
Do you have proof of the source of income? They could mean that.

@Greg *****
since your embassy doesn’t provided proof of income I would get whatever proof of income you have, get it translated, then send it to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get their stamp. Then See if immigration will accept that. Just a thought.

Ask immigration first. I use a letter from the foreign government source agency in English. I know every immigration is different.

Strange that you've been doing this for "years" but it's not accepted this year, they normally let you continue as before, called "grandfathering"

You need to use the immigration office that serves the area you live in. If you haven't previously used the 60 day visit family extension to give you the required time to season 400k in your bank you should be able to

I moved to a different province last year. Maybe that’s the reason.

different immigration office, different rules. They all do things differently

that's exactly what I meant. If you have retirement stamp issued from Pattaya, then moved to Phuket, once the Pattaya stamp is expired you cannot renew it like you used to at Phuket. You might have to leave and come back in and re-start the process. If they find out you spent more time elsewhere in thailand rather than your registered address for the visa, you could be fined too, esp, retirement visa.

@Pomm ***
that would be highly unusual unless you had a dodgy agent extension in Pattaya. That's why it's always best to do it yourself if you can

different offices may have procedural differences concerning documentation and that kind of thing but not in this case. This is the fundamental concept of visas working at a national level. It is enshrined in immigration law, so no, different offices cannot do this differently.

I think you will find they can. A number of offices will only allow the 40k per month for a marriage extension if it is earned inside Thailand. They will not accept international transfer and if you care to look at the actual document from immigration outlining the requirements it normally refers to "earned income "

I'm talking about having to restart a visa because you move provinces which is not a thing.

I don't think he did. Just went to get his annual extension expecting his new immigration office to be the same as his old one

my response was specifically to this statement by Pomm Mc who said

"IMO of different provinces will not accept continuity of your visa, you have to re-start your visa again. Same as for retirement visa."

This is not correct.

that makes sense. unfortunately, IMO of different provinces will not accept continuity of your visa, you have to re-start your visa again. Same as for retirement visa.

I moved from Phuket to Bangkok, canceled/changed my visa extension from work permit to education all in the same day, years ago. A logistical nightmare, but no problem at immigration (all done in one day).

@Pomm ***
I moved to a different province halfway through my retirement extension period and there was no disruption. It just continued until the expiry/renewal date.

you're one of the fortunate ones.

visa are not provincial based (usually) your perhaps one of the unfortunate ones

@Pomm ***
I don't think so. This is normal practice. I've never heard of having to restart a visa just because you change your address to a different province. All you have to to is go to immigration and register your new address.

Some immigrations offices will only accept monthly income for marriage extensions if that monthly income is from a job in Thailand. Otherwise you'll have to use the bank deposit if your embassy doesn't certify income.

If you haven't gotten the 60 day visiting Thai family extension you might be able to apply for that while you wait for the 400,000 to be in the bank long enough.

What other immigration offices accept doesn't matter. You use the immigration office where you live.

I only asked about other offices because my buddy goes to a different province to renew his because he had some conflict with an officer his local immigration office. The other provincial immigration office processes, his married visa every year and has done so for the past three years. And he doesn’t live in that province.

@Brad ******
you have to apply in the province that matches the TM30 where you're staying. And for marriage extensions they can do home visits anytime to verify that you are living there and living together, and they usually want to talk to landlord or neighbors for confirmation.
