TLDR : Answer Summary
A user reports having landed at Bangkok Airport, receiving a 30-day visa exemption instead of the anticipated 60 days. The conversation includes doubts about changes to visa regulations announced for June 1, 2024, which appear to be in flux and not yet officially binding. Participants discuss the confusion surrounding the application of new laws and the need for publication in the Royal Gazette before enforcement. There is commentary on the inconsistency in information dissemination and varying experiences among travelers.

Same here. Less than a hour ago. Immigration officer even corrected my miscounted days to 30.

Must wait for the official decree 😊

It did not start yet you have another month

Yes unfortunately as with everything you have to read the "fine print" announced from 1st June but then the bureaucracy kicks in much like many promises in my home country used to grab headlines, then you find will become effective by 2028!!!

Welcome to Thailand, it will take some Thai that immigration get the new entry rules 😂

Until it published in the Royal gazette its not law or approved you have to wait

It's not passed royal approval yet
Christopher *************
Of course it's not in place yet , why are people supprised
Well spotted Debbie. That’s the problem with websites; either never get updated when they should or prematurely when they shouldn’t! People think they’re the gospel unfortunately.

Until the new regulations are not published in the Royal Gazette, they do not apply... just read the official notices CORRECTLY

Come on guys this is Thailand, did anyone really expect a midnight changeover. Might be days, maybe longer, it might even depend on which Q you are standing in 😂
Symon *********
It's Thailand. Come on. You didn't expect this to be announced, put in place and seamlessly transitioned to the immigration at the airport on June 1 did you? 🤣🤣🤣

How does one get the full five years out of this visa? You can stay up to 180 days then must leave and come back on the same visa until the 5 years is up...or am I missing something? Gotta love the ambiguity of these kinds of posts!
Yeah people asking at midnight to see people’s entry stamp. I think patience is necessary. Maybe next week or next month it will happen. What’s the big deal? Wa only announced Tuesday. Everyone expected June 1 which is a Saturday in a holiday weekend. Seemed unlikely maybe July 1 because it’s a Monday. Not a big deal. I’m sure nobody booked travel for this Saturday based on news from Tuesday. They need to make the visa easier in Thailand not this country gets this exemption or this country gets this visa only.

Would this be the new stamp on arrival 60 days under new visa rules good if it's true Im thinking coming to Thailand July Aug
Netherlands is the same as Holland and is on the list,so you should get 60 days—long weekend here—so things happen slower🤪🤪🤪
Dan ********
And Gregory Sheard is one of the 9300 people that (a) didn't know Holland is the Netherlands, and vice versa, and (b) didn't bother to read any comments to see if anyone had said the same already...🤣
and Dan didnt bother to read my accompanying post, which if you read properly you would see and you not my teacher—so dont tell me what i should and should not be doing 🙈🙈🙈

Thanks for the update Ismail. No big surprise, and it’s consistent with the normal life cycle of ambitious announcement through to possible implementation of rule changes.

Any adopted change will only become legally effective when it is published in the Royal Thai Gouvernment Gazette. This always appears on Thursday. This means that even if something is decided and launched, it is always serious after publication.
Even a stupid laughing smiley as a comment is of no use. You should already know a little about the legal situation. I have attached a brief article from Germany.
That's only half true, the law has been passed but not yet in force. As already described. For this reason....
And this applies to ALL LAWS in Thailand. But it's actually like that almost all over the world. When a parliament decides something, it must first be published in the law sheets before it can be passed
Articles you read by news organizations are always a teaser.
David ******
As others have commented, wait for this new law to be published in the Royal Gazette to be official.

I used a "New LTR Visa" recently at Nong khai and going in and out there were minor problems with Immagration not understanding how it works and a supervisor had to be called both exiting and entering and that "New Visa " is about two years old. Even Suvarnabhumi took a few months.
great Visa and the Ranking Immigration Officet took great care of me! My point is some staff never read the "memo" So glad I bought the for 50K for 10 years with multiple exit reentry
Totally agree, I've been very happy with it - it's made life much less stressful, and being able to use Fast Track makes travel really easy. But I'm still amazed at how many staff still haven't gotten that memo!

Be patient, it's only 7.30 am as I write this, the day has only just started, it's only supposed to be confirmed today, doesn't mean it starts today
They definitely said changes "in effect 1st June". But why this rushed announcement, and rushed through policy changes. It will all be scrapped in a few years when they realise there was a reason they were so stringent with these countries visitors. Like when the Albanians have taken control of everything, from drugs distribution, prostitution, smuggling of any contraband and people, taxis, security, motorbike rentals, carwashes, language schools, whats left of visa agencies, even convenience stores. It will be a mighty tear up with the Russian and Israeli organised crime gangs.
Thursday Prd posted 1 June. They withdrew that yesterday and replaced it with new start date. You see MFA Thailand posted the press releases but immi couldn't do the required preparations in time. Thus the delay
....interesting. we are pretty good trading partners.
But several of my Thai and Vietnamese friends have been denied tourists visa for Australia so they have holidays in UK. USA CANADA and return home to continue working.
