Quick question; if I overstayed my visa by a day I’m under the impression that it’s a 500 baht fine. Is this correct?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you overstay your visa in Thailand by one day, there is typically a fine of 500 baht. However, if you leave through the airport, there is often a grace period of 24 hours, which means you may not have to pay the fine but will receive an overstay stamp in your passport. Overstaying can lead to negative consequences, including potential arrests if caught during routine checks, and may affect future visa applications. Planning to avoid overstays is strongly advised.

Even a local with businesa and work permit was going to renew the stamp with 1 day overstay.... he got caught on the street during minivan travel... he lost his wp, his visa and his business..... 7 years on the island all in smoke cz he didn't put enough attention on his visa expiring date...

if you leave via land border they will charge you THB 500 when you depart. At the airport they give a grace period of 24 hours, means no need to pay, but you will get a small mark stamped into passport.
If ure lucky...if u gonna be caught on the way with overstay visa by a random military/police checking u can be arrested and have a red stamp..... so yeah... never get in overstay is a must now.. to much risk... fair enough actually at my pov... to much irregulars in Thailand.. they don't make distinction anymore between 1 day overstate and 1 year... even if have no sense...
By they're brain mean that u don't care and so if u go 1 day overstay u can be another 1 year overstay in future.....

Yes, unless you are caught before you get to the airport to depart. It is NEVER wise to plan to OVERSTAY. If at the airport most likely NO fine just an overstay stamp in passport. Overstay stamps can cause future problems in getting a visa from some Consulates.
