I am flying back to Australia on 23rd at 6pm and visa expires on 22nd. Other than paying the 500bht fine are there any other dramas. Don't want to be refused next time for overstay 1day.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is concerned about overstaying their visa in Thailand by one day before departing for Australia. Many comments suggest that while there typically isn't a fine for a one-day overstay, an overstay stamp may be placed in the passport. Most respondents indicate that it usually doesn’t lead to serious consequences on future visits but recommend not making a habit of overstaying. Some advise notifying immigration in advance, as the treatment may depend on individual circumstances and interactions with officials.

It happened to me a couple of years ago, I told them I got off-loaded by the airline he said don't leave your departure so close, but let me go. Regardless of what's in your passport they look at what's stored online to see if you are a serial offender

You should be ok mate I have done three days and never had a recourse but don’t make a habit of it

I would let them know in advance just in case. It depends on who you get when you leave and return.

Just happened to a friend of mine. They checked his visa for 30 days and said ok. As long as not a back to back or border hopping they are ok. When he asked they told him visa for 30 days then 90 days back in own country ok.

You will not receive a 500 baht fine as the fine is waived for 1 day overstay. I'm not sure if you still receive an overstay stamp in your passport or not though. But if you have any interaction with the police before you reach the airport, you may be arrested, held, deported and banned for 5 years.
