What happens if you overstay 2 days with a 1 month visa exemption? Can you still extend it at the office?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you overstay a 1-month visa exemption by 2 days in Thailand, you will incur a fine of 500 baht for each day of overstay, totalling 1000 baht. You can still apply to extend your visa at the immigration office, but the extension will start from the original expiration date of your visa. Some users mentioned that the actual number of days overstayed may be subject to interpretation regarding weekends and holidays, and it's possible to discuss this with immigration officials.

Is the amount of day open to interpretation? Weekends/closed days? Or its some fixed procedure. When I extend my visa, can I just ask to talk about it?

"Since they were closed monday and the weekend, is it only considered 1 day overstay? Is it open for discussion? Can I talk with them?"

I am relatively sure few people if any actually intend to overstay. It happens, a LOT, in fact it happens way more than you would imagine.

As
@Je***
, correctly pointed out, it's not the overstay that is dangerous it's getting caught out inside the country on something else WHILE on overstay that can open a can of worms or throw you right off the railz..

Maybe it’s just me but I never decided or made a to plan an overstay. Alway thought of it as a negative mark in my Passport. Maybe I’m wrong.

The real danger comes if you are unlucky enough to run into the police

If you were gonna go to the border and bounce out 'n back in remember you can only have TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year.

Thanks

, does it make sense to hurry right now to the border (because immigration is closed now), it will mean 1 less day overstay, or when applying for a new visa in the future there is not a big difference when they see 2 or 3 day overstay?

face it you're not the first foreigner that overstayed and you won't be the last. It happens many times every day at the immigration offices and at the borders. I'd say you're out nothing (except another 500baht) waiting and going to the immigration office tomorrow for your extension

You pay the overstay fines of 500baht a day and then buy a 30 day extension. The immigration office will date it starting from the original expiration date.
