Do I need to fill out a TM30 form if I've already stated my address on the landing card TM6 in Thailand?

Members, may be a silly question, but we all know what thai immigration law is like, so do I need to fill out a TM30 at local police or immigration office if I have already stated my address on the landing card TM6

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of registering an address in Thailand can be confusing due to varying enforcement of rules by immigration offices. While it is required by law to fill out a TM30 form if you have changed your address or are staying long-term, many expats find that if their TM6 form has already stated their address, the necessity of the TM30 may be overlooked by certain local immigration offices. However, it's suggested that to avoid any potential complications, especially if you plan to engage with immigration services for extensions or other matters, it is safer to complete the TM30 regardless of where you are residing in Thailand.

Just DO IT and then you wont have to worry about what area may require it and which doesnt!

when you show up at the main immigration office in Bangkok to file a TM.30 as a foreigner they said "No need" and try to send you away :O I had to really hammer them to let me file one ;)

The TM.6 arrival/departure card is NOT entered into any data base (that I have been able to find) where immigrations knows what you put on the card. It has no bearing on whether you have to file a TM.30 form with your immigration office AT ALL.

IF you're staying in an area of thailand where the immigration office is hard core about it, you need to file one, if you're in an area where they don't care about it you don.t It's that simple.

That's the reason I asked WHERE in thailand you're going to be staying.

If you're staying at a hotel, they do it for you. If you're staying at a condo/house, it is the responsibility of the owner to do it....however, they usually don't. If you go to immigration for something, say an extension, some immigration offices will fine you if you don't have a TM30 filed. TM6 has nothing to do with it.

Like the landlords, they're required to by law. Doesn't mean they do it.

not all hotels will actually file the TM30 like they are supposed to btw. If you need one it's your responsibility to make sure one has been filed for you. Immigration will most likely fine you.

how about stating where in thailand you actually are going to be staying (seeing as it's 513+ thousand square kilometers in size) :O

Just joking Tod.... ;)

Yes you do...but where are you living in Thailand? Differing enforcement of the rules by Thai Immigration.

By law you have to BUT you probably don't need to do it (and Noone will care) unless you are going to do anything with immigration.
