Do I need to complete the TM30 if I have a long-term family visa in Thailand?

I entered Thailand and assumed I had to 'do' the TM30 (I'm on a 12 month visa extension (family)). Accordingly, I sent my wife to the Immigration to do so, but she was told that it wasn't necessary, as I have had a family visa for quite a number of years.

Is this so, or has my wife misunderstood.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The necessity of completing the TM30 form depends on the local Thai immigration office's policies. Generally, foreigners must report their address within 24 hours of arrival, regardless of visa type. Even if you have had a family visa for several years, it is advisable to confirm with your local immigration office.

and that is between you (the passport holder) your wife (the property owner) and the immigration office you deal with

The report that you arrived at an address has absolutely nothing to do with what kind of visa or non visa you have stamped in your passport. Also it has nothing to do if you have a wife, are single, have children or what ever relationship you have in live.

An foreigner must be reported within 24 hours after arrival at an address in Thailand, nothing more, nothing less.

It really is the decision of your LOCAL THAI IMMIGRATION office.

With 70+ across Thailand no one answer is good for all..

But as you now have a NEW TM6 ARRIVAL CARD #... I would ask again to be sure...
