Hello! We need to go and extend our 60 day tourist visas at an immigration office soon. I have read online that I need a TM30 form registering our stay with our landlord. My landlord says he has never heard of this, and is sure we won't need it.... Can anyone tell me how important this registration is, and how likely it is to be enforced? Thankyou!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The need for a TM30 form when extending a 60-day tourist visa can vary by immigration office in Thailand. While some users reported not needing it for their applications, others emphasized that landlords should have registered the stay using TM30 as mandated by the Immigration Act. Enforcement and requirements appear to differ by location and office capacity, suggesting that checking in advance with the specific immigration office is prudent.

Is it not about time that all immigration offices had the same rules
Robert *******
They have the same rules, difference is that some offices have enough trained staff to enforce more rules than others. Immigration is still updating and installing computer programs, so it will be a matter of time that every office can operate the same.

Went to immigration today for the same thing, no need for that form.

If in Chiang Mai you will pay a Baht 1600 fine and complete the TM 30 application. So don't do that here.

I've read the last few days about Extensions applications on Samui and nobody reported back that the TM30 was needed, So just make copy of: Id page, visa, last entry stamp and departure card, passport picture and 1.900 Thb. Tell your landlord that in the Immigration Act written in 1979 and conform Section 38 he has to inform Immigration within 24 hrs after arrival using this TM30 form or he can register his company with Immigration and can do it online.

So we took the TM 30 form that our landlord filled out... but we weren't asked for it at Samui. We also didn't have our departure cards, and they didn't even mention it... so we got our extensions no problem at all!

In your opinion will their be a problem when we come to fly out of Bangkok with still not having departure cards?

Thankyou so much for your help with this... I felt much more relaxed with the information you gave me!

Thanks!

You filled them in before entering Thailand. This also depends on the Immigration Office, some just give you a new one without any problem others want you to file a Police report before handing you a new one. Just visit Immigration and hope for the easy solution.

Thankyou! Another issue we have is that we appear to have lost our departure cards... I had never heard of these before researching our extensions, and apparently they are supposed to be stapled into our passports... but nothing is there... We were coming off a crazy long flight with two little kids, so I guess with them not being attached and me not knowing they were important they just got lost... I have read I should be able to get new ones in immigration... is this true?

Thankyou so much for your help!

your landlord should have filed it.

@Tod ********
my point is that it n4ever hurts to have them both filled out and tucked away in case they ask
Tod *********
@To**
, keep in mind that a TM.28 is NOT required for tourists extending a tourist visa or a 30 day visa exempt entry it's just for people on long stay visa extensions.

Also people said the TM.30 is also not required at the Samui immigration office so I'd weigh in that the O/P needs neither of those forms.
Robert *******
No harm at all. But if you bring them, also bring a signed copy of the house book and Id of the owner.
Tony ********
@Robert ******
what harm does it do toi have both with her?
Robert *******
@Sa***
, You won't need both forms.
Tony ********
@Sarah ********
just have them with you and dont offer them unless they ask

Thankyou! So a TM 28 is for any foreigner staying more than 24 hours in any place?

And it won't be a problem to just take the forms to immigration with me without him having registered them?

Thankyou for your help!!
Tony ********
@Robert ******
or a stay in the province of over 24 hours
Robert *******
Why TM28, That is if you change your address.
Tony ********
@Sarah ********
i would fill out a tm30 for him and tm 28 for you and take them with you

Sure, by all accounts... but he has been renting to tourists for years and says he has never heard of this... he says many of them have done extensions without it... so I am not sure what to do...
Robert *******
It all depends on the Immigration Office where you would like to get the Extension of Stay.
