I’m sure this question has come up in this forum. The TM30 form. Is it correct this this form must be completed within 24 hours of moving into a residence, even if only staying in that residence for 1 night.

Take my case for example, I live in Chiang Mai at each weekend, travel to Pathumthani and stay in a hotel in the week. I sometimes stay In Bangkok for 1 night during the week. So do I have to complete the TM30 every week when I move to and from Chiangmai to Pathumthani ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 form must generally be filed within 24 hours of moving to a new residence in Thailand. However, requirements may vary by location. In Chiang Mai, some expats reported that they are not required to file a new TM30 every time they return from traveling within Thailand, with updates needed mainly when returning from abroad. It's recommended to check with local immigration authorities for specific requirements, as practices can differ across regions.

Chiang Rai require an update each and every time you return to the registered address from anywhere!
Barry ******
Chiang Mai no you don’t. Only update if you leave the country (no need to do a new one)

I don't think it's realistic to keep checking this with immigration every month unless you have nothing better to do or really like the new immigration office (they do have AC and free water). My understanding is the same as

's, they only need it if you come back from abroad, not within Thailand. That's what I do.

If they change their mind the fine is a maximum of 1,600B, not exactly huge. And I'm sure word will get out when the first person is fined for going across the border to Lamphun, we will hear about it.

Sure you can try updating and see if they say anything like “sorry already done”

I'd still go to immigration and make sure if the information is a month or two old. They do change their policies from time-to-time

thank you 😉

This TM 30 is a joke

@Benjamin *****
, incorrect. It’s the landlord that gets fined but they collect through the visitor!

I suggest getting a new apartment, or have him watching the following video from the Thai government:

Or just do it yourself (search this group, information's been provided)

@As***
you can do it yourself. You shouldn't have to, but you can if necessary.

My landlord will kick me out from his house if I tell him to file TM30

Ok...thanks for your advices

It may be a joke, but if you don't file it, you'll get fined.

Ask your local Chiang Mai Immigration... what are their TM30 requirements? There are different requirements nationwide. Whats OK in Jomtien may not be OK for you.
Bob **********
I don’t And was told in Jomtien that as long as I travel inside Thailand and stay at my registered address I’m fine even told once I didn’t need it after returning from Cambodia

Samutprakan told me the same 😆

yep....but lucky for him...I think Chiang Mai does not require it. Note I said ...I think...He needs to ask CM Imm. Also can file TM30 online.

@James *******
it would really blow my mind if he had to do this every week at the same address as he’s being registered from the hotel for one night

Same for me as I use Jomtien. But sadly that is not happening in many immigration offices throughout Thailand. We are lucky 😉
