TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their 60-day visa exempt stay by an additional 30 days, given their previously spent 90 days earlier in the year and a flight home on January 14. Comments indicate that due to new immigration rules, they may only be eligible for a 7-day extension instead of 30 and might need to leave the country to apply for a new visa. Suggestions include performing a border run to maximize their stay before the new rules take effect.

If you try to extend now you will get 7 days. Best is to apply for 60 day tourist visa. But i think you still need to go out of country. Ask an agent like thai nexus, onestop or similar they will help you

Yes unfortunately, you'll only get 7 days which is designed for you to organise your flight to leave. So per calendar year. You get 60 days plus 30 day extension leave, come back 60 days plus 7 day extension.
first 60 stamp extend 30 days. Leave country for few days return and get 60 days which can be extended for 7 days. If leaving on visa run don't return same day, people have been refused entry

My understanding is that you can only stay 90 days in a year, unless you have a valid visa
That's not right, I travel to Thailand 3 times a year for 60 days each. So never need an extension and I don't get over the 180 days, which theoretically taxable me would do. Nothing has changed there. I always come from my home country.
it's easy to understand.when you come in you get 60 days at first .you can buy another 30 days to make it 90 days .now the next time you want to extend is the bit what's gunna hit people is they only give you 7 days to sort your self out .and that's it .that's what issan lawyers man said .
, how do they count that per calendar year? For example, if I entered Thailand this year and received a 2-month entry stamp then I can extend 30 days once this year. After that, I leave the country for a couple of weeks and will come back next year so that counts as are new calendar year it is not the same calendar year anymore and I am allowed to receive a free entry stamp and 30 days extension because it will be the first time in one calendar year
I can't tell you that because I don't no if it starts on day 1 of entry or Jan 1st .the real rules must be in the Thai website so good luck on the answer
it appears to be a 60 day visa exempt with a 30 day extension. You may at a later date enter with another 60 day visa exempt with a 7 day extension. Either that or it's a 60+30+7, I'm not sure yet. Should know more tomorrow. It appears they are stopping same day land border bounces. Maybe catch a train to Laos for a few days and try for another 60 day visa exempt to make sure.
read the opening piece you attached clearly says 2 extension a 30 day and a 7 day. You think that he has it right ?Personally does not effect me and I arrive and depart every month. But will effect some mates
Some people yesterday in the same situation as yourself only received 7 days.. or told to leave immediately and apply for a visa in a neighbouring country (Laos/Malaysia)
Started in Bangkok already on day one of announcement this week. Heard same stories from Phuket, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Yet to hear from provinces in Isaan and more remote areas.
one extension for 30 days, all next entries - rejection with 7 days to leave the country. That's a standard stamp. It were simplified in reposts and reinterpretation. But it is one extension , all other tries will end with 7 day stamp go out. It can be also from first entry, if you came from land border.
only one issue in his message. It is a maximum one 30 days extension. It can be 0 also, if return same day or entered by land. But you can't now extend more than once for 30 days. They already decline if you try to extend second time this year. What you think is wrong here?
Stuart I have read and have verified it on ChatGPT that you will be allowed 2 extensions per year. The first one will be 30 days and the second one will be seven days.
Please don’t rely on ChatGPT to give accurate information about Thai visa information. There is so much misinformation out there that it screens and comes up with very sketchy information.
