TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information on extending their stay in Thailand for 150 days by utilizing visa exemptions and border runs. They understand that upon arrival, they receive a 30-day stay, which can be extended by 30 days, and are inquiring if they can do a border run to extend their stay for another month, considering the next entry would be in a new calendar year. Various replies clarify the limits on border runs, express caution about frequent entries, and suggest alternatives such as applying for a tourist visa or NON-O visa for longer stays.

I t tried to enter Thailand Suvarnabhumi Airport with a 2nd T/R visa and got pulled aside and questioned by a supervisor why I am not applying for a long term visa

After some grovelling and pleading I was allowed entry

ouff finger crossed, I've heard that they want to change the tourist visa from 30days to 90days, which would solve everything for everyone

that's not a visa. That's "exempt of a visa". Which means you arrive and permitted to stay and do not get given a visa.

I came to Thailand on 6 month multiple entry visa. I just have to leave every two months but no worries about coming back in and I could even probably stretch the two months with ext if I wanted

you "have" to leave after 90 days if you take the 30 day tourism extensions giving you up to 9 months in Thailand with that visa and just two border bounces

yesss if I wanted ext. but I have submitted my paperwork for NonO, so hopefully that comes through soon so that I can be one step closer to asking for my first one year extension. I believe I can start that application two months after I have NonO.

Did you consider looking at the Thai Embassy site before you made plans. You'd be surprised at what you can find there, it includes requirements, the types of visas, and all sorts of interesting information.

You should have applied for a 60 day touristvisa, which together with a 30 day Extension would have given you 90 days, without having to leave Thailand.

As far as border runs are concerned ( assuming you're using visa exempt entries) you're ok. One in 2023 and 2 in 2024. Hopefully the IO on your 3rd border bounce has a sense of humour 😃😃

You can enter 2 times by land border without a visa per calendar year.

Eventually immigration agents are going to start questioning why you're spending so much time in Thailand without a long term visa.

Worse case scenario is you're denied entry. Best case scenario is you're stamped in without an eyelid being batted. Immigration tend to look closer at perpetual back to back entries. Use a visa transport company
