Do I need to apply for a new 60-day tourist eVisa for my January trip to Thailand after departing in December?

Question. I am visiting Bangkok in January for 51 days from USA. Just received yesterday my 60 day eVisa that I applied for that trip. I arrived today in Bangkok for 2 weeks (until Dec 4) with the plan to get a 30 day tourist exemption. Immigration officer at airport would only use the 60 day eVisa that was already in the system to grant entry. It is good until Jan 19, but I will be leaving for US on Dec. 4 and coming back on Jan. 10. By leaving Thailand, I believe that completes the eVisa. Do I now need to apply for another 60 day tourist eVisa for my January trip or is there an easier solution?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about re-entering Thailand after a brief departure. They have received a 60-day eVisa for a future trip but have also been granted a 30-day tourist exemption upon arrival. Comments suggest that if the user plans to stay in Thailand for less than 30 days in January, they can enter on a visa exemption without needing a new eVisa. For stays of 30 to 60 days, they could apply for a 30-day extension based on their current visa exemption. Additionally, users recommend obtaining a re-entry permit if they wish to keep their entry stamp active.

a re entry permit for 1,000 baht will allow you to re enter, but ONLY will be good till Jan 19th>

If ur going to stay longer, come back on a free 30 day visa exempt

If you're staying 60 days or less, just arrive on a visa exemption and get a visa extension at an immigration office. Will cost you 1900฿, couple of forms to fill out and a photocopy of you passport information page and latest entry stamp. Youll also need a passport photo that has been taken within the last 6 months. Give the money and forms sit around for maybe an hour and you're done.

You can download and print the forms now and prefill them out so you don't have to do it at immigration, just leave the date blank and put the date when you go do it.

You'll either need a new visa or arrive visa exempt and apply for a 30 day extension.

Depends on how long you plan on staying in January. If less than 30 days like this trip you can enter on visa exempt, no need to get the tourist visa. If between 30 and 60 days you can still do visa exempt plus one 30 day extension. If more than 60 days then you can do the tourist visa plus 30 day extension for a total of 90 days.
