Can I extend my Visa exemption in Thailand for 30 days or is it now only 7 days?

I recently arrived on a Visa exemption (30 days, EU-passport).

In the past I extended at immigration for another 30 days. From reading I see that this 30 days extension has changed to 7 days extension only.

Is this correct ? Is it 7 days extension only now or still 30 days ?

I plan to extend in Chiang Mai.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the current rules regarding visa extensions for those on a Visa exemption in Thailand. They mention that they previously extended their stay by 30 days but have heard conflicting information about a potential new rule that limits extensions to only 7 days. Comments indicate that holders of a Visa exemption can still receive a 30-day extension, while some nationalities may have different rules.

Hi Stuart. Thank you for taking the time to respond and approving my post. Sorry about the confusion about the 7 days (which seems to only apply for a specific few national passport holder, which got me confused) . I thought it might be a new rule. I appreciate your time and effort.

The 7 day stamp is not an extension, it is an extension denied, 7 days to get out of Thailand stamp

Any entry visa exempt is allowed one extension for 30 days. This does not apply to those countries that get a visa waiver, like Russians, etc.
