TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their stay in Thailand, where they will initially receive a 45-day visa exemption upon arrival. Responses suggest extending the visa for 30 days at an immigration office for 1900 baht, or considering a border run after the extension expires to gain another 45 days. It is also recommended that the user checks airline policies regarding return tickets while on a 45-day exemption.

Recently went and they made sure that I had proof of my onward journey and it was before the visa expired. If not. U may be refused entry.

Can one go cross border after 45 days and get another 45 days on re-entry

..avoid payment of 1900 also !

seeing as you have to BUY a visa to get stamped in and out of both Cambodia and Lao (most people get in to Malaysia free) there's no great advantage running to the border to get a new 45 day visa exempt entry until you've taken the 30 day extension on your current stamp to maximize the time you can be in country on it

1. Extend for 30 days for 1900 baht at your local immigration office

2. Border bounce when the 30

day extension has expired

3. Check with your airline that they will allow you to board without an onward or return journey within 45 days.

You could try applying for 60

day tourist visa which is extendable for 30 days if you have time before you fly.

You can extend once for 30 days then you leave and re-enter to get 45 days again. To avoid leaving get a 60 day tourist visa and extend that.

well spotted a single entry tourist visa with a 30 day extension will fit the bill better than a border bounce ๐Ÿ™‚

if you're from one of the 52 countries that get in to thailand on a visa exempt entry you will get 45 days when you stamp in and you can extend that ONE time for 30 days (so you're good until about Feb 17th with the 30 day extension).

That's it though you're done after that 30 day extension and would have to exit the country and re-enter to get a new 45 day visa exempt entry.
