Hi all, I have looked at other posts but am a little confused. Hopefully I will get some clarity.

I am on visa exempt 30 days. I want to get visa extension for 60 day tourist visa. Is that a possibility?

If so, what are the requirements.

If not, what sort of extension will I be able to apply and receive?

6 or so years ago I could do visa exempt+60 day extension. No idea what the rules are now.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is on a 30-day visa exempt entry and seeks to extend it to a 60-day tourist visa. Community responses clarify that while a 30-day extension is possible at a local immigration office for a fee, a direct 60-day extension is not available. Alternatively, the user can perform a border run to obtain a new visa or apply for a 60-day tourist visa from outside Thailand. Requirements include having a TM30 address registration and it is important to know nationality, as there are different rules for different passport holders.

Should have applied for 60 day from home then get another 30

IF you are eligible to do a BORDER BOUNCE or Apply for a New Thai Visa from a neighboring SE Asia Thai Embassy or Consulate.. this is what you do.

what is your passport nation?

First we don't know what country you are from but if you have 30 exempt now, I'm guessing you can get another 30 days at immigration. 60 days is not possible unless you leave and go to another country and try to get 60 visa and then return or apply in you home country. Not sure how 6 years ago you did 60 day extension.

right, I probably remembered it back to front about the 60 day visa extension. I remember going to Laos but I couldn't remember if that was for 30 day or 60 day visa extension

you don't go to Laos for any sort of extension. You go to get a new entry stamp

, tourism extension was never longer than 30 days afaik. If you want to know, you need to check the stamps on your (old or current) passport.

What is your passport nation?

Without knowing it, we cannot advise you correctly of your options to stay in Thailand.

if you hold a passport from Singapore...you can do an UNLIMITED NUMBER of entries into Thailand with EACH entry getting you a 30 day STAMP on arrival. Which can be extended for 30 ADDED days at your local Thai Immigration office.

"Hong Kong, Malaysian, Indonesian, Laotian, Vietnamese, Singaporean, Macao, Russian and Mongolia can do this kind of OUT/IN unlimited times, Chinese are also allowed to border run for 30days."

On a visa exempt entry you will get a single 30 day extension, then either border bounce for the same again or do a visa run and get a 60 day tourist visa plus then a 30 day extension on that. You can not get a tourist visa for thailand in thailand

As you have ENTERED Thailand Visa EXEMPT ENTRY, you got a 30 day STAMP on arrival...

That can be extended for 30 ADDED days at your local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

There's NO 60 day extension available...

It's ONLY 30 days.

Be sure to have a TM30 address registration on file with Thai Immigration office and these are the common found requirements for the 30 days extension of stay.

when did the immigration remove the 60 day extension option?

@Afiqah **************
the only 60 day extension is for visiting thai family, it's not available to tourists

people on 30 day visa exempt or 60 day tourist visas can indeed get the 60 day visit thai family extension

perhaps I worded that badly. What I meant to say is that it's not available for tourism

I have never seen a 60 Day extension option for someone who entered Thailand with a Visa EXEMPT ENTRY.
