TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon arriving in Bangkok on a visa exempt entry, you can extend your stay at immigration for an additional 30 days. After that, you have the option to perform a border run by land, which will grant you another 30 days, and then potentially extend again for an additional 30 days, giving you a total of 120 days. However, the rules can vary based on individual circumstances and how immigration officers interpret regulations. If you plan to stay longer than six months, it may be advisable to apply for a Tourist Visa, which offers a more predictable and potentially cheaper option compared to multiple border runs.

If you want to spend some time in Thailand why not get a Tourist Visa (60 days) which can be extended for 30 days (1900B). It works out cheaper than border bouncing and having to travel then get a Visa in a neighbouring country?

According to Canadian Thai consulate , visa exempt doesnt allow extensions, however American consulate says you can extend.

And which of those countries issued your passport? No need to answer, simply know to follow the rules associated with whatever passport you will be using.

Very simple, theyll find a ny excuse to squeeze 280 dollars out of you for any reason, in my instance , a socalled damaged passport, a slight crease in the page and tell you to reapply without refunding your money. I ve been doing that for years but now theyre playing games.

You can extend at immigration for a further 30 days without any issue. You can then do a border a bounce by land , receive 30 days and extend at immigration for another 30 giving you 120 days in total. Without too much hassle. After this there is no concrete written laws, it’s up to the immigration officer, luck etc. if your a genuine tourist and travelling in the region for touristic things it will be a lot easier to prove. If you plan staying longer than 6 months on Thailand it’s probably best looking into ED visas or what else is available.

I hope youre right. Ill find out when i get there. I should apply for a single entry tourist visa but I will only have ten days to do so before I leave. Apparently it takes 3 weeks to process, so I might apply for one in Vietnam, if thats possible.
