Sure, there are usually perfect valid explanations that any consulate will understand. Like I had a staff quit, and for a short time had one staff less. That was enough for immigration refusing me extension, but had no issues requiring a new Non-B abroad.

You need leave and to apply for a new Non-B Visa. Hong Kong or Penang should be good options. I used both successfully in the past.

Are you currently on Covid Extension (since you cancelled your BOI Extension)?

Normally Immigration would allow "Visa Status Alteration" to NON-B for those who arrived with Tourist Visa etc.

Thanks for all replies. Judging from these comments, I think it will be risky for him going to immigration. He kinda put himself in this situation himself. Lost his job during beginning of pandemic, and never sorted his cancelled WP and extension etc. So I will advice him to leave.

In all the extensions and reports I've done over the years, they always counted 90 from arrival in the kingdom.
