Thanks, Tod, but my concern is specifically about getting back into the country on an ED visa having already been in the country first on a METV, and then a SETV. During the SETV I have sorted out an ED visa which I have to get processed outside the country. On my return, will there be any problems since it will be my third entry into the Kingdom, albeit on a different kind of visa.

I'm a Brit and I got my METV from the embassy in Rome. I needed to provide bank statements, flight itinerary, passport and photos - and lots of euros. Other than that, no problem.

Have you tried Air Asia for flights to KL from Chiang Mai? somehow, we've always found really cheap flights.
