Is there a six-month multiple-entry visa for Thailand without work or volunteering?

I am semi-retired, and a writer (digital nomad). I travel to and from Thailand a lot, and sometimes for three month stays at a time (staying in Asia). I've used the 90 day non-immigrant O Visas twice this year. But, I'm now back again in Thailand again for a one month exempt. Is there a six month multiple entry Visa, if I don't want to work or volunteer in Thailand? And if so, do I have to get it in my home country or can I go to Penang or KL to get it? TIA ๐Ÿค”

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information about obtaining a six-month multiple-entry visa for Thailand without the intention to work or volunteer. They have previously used the 90-day Non-Immigrant O Visa and are currently in Thailand on a one-month visa exemption. Comments from the community suggest that a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) is available, allowing multiple entries with stays of up to 60 days. However, it appears that it is typically required to be applied for in the home country, although there are anecdotal mentions of it possibly being available in Kuala Lumpur, albeit with very limited success.

I have read somewhere that Thailand now only allows a maximum stay of 6 months per year in the Kingdom for tourists. If you have already used two 90 day Visas, it means that you have already reached the maximum quota, so I would advise you to check out with the embassy or consulate before going.

A METV is good for six months, you can come and go as you please and stay 60 days each time.

I'm a Brit and I got my METV from the embassy in Rome. I needed to provide bank statements, flight itinerary, passport and photos - and lots of euros. Other than that, no problem.

Hey Brad. I stay in Vancouver a lot. Someone told me they would allow U.S. citizens to get their Thai Visa there, because it's closer to Seattle residents. I may contact them... THANKS!

Brad Melrose Which embassy did you apply at that only asked for photo and flight itinerary? For the Los Angeles Embassy these are the requirements when applying for the METV.

Not entirely true. I have one, got it in my home country, cost $200, and I had to provide photo and flight itinerary to Thailand. No other documentation required.

You can only apply for the METV in your home country. Visa fee is $200 plus supporting documentation which includes bank statement showing a minimum of $7,000.

SETV is your best bet, especially if you're staying for 3 months at a time without traveling. If you plan on traveling within 30 days upon arrival, just put to use the Visa exempt each time, no need to apply for a Visa.

You need to apply in your own country. It was mentioned that Kuala Lumpur would issue one BUT nobody ever saw the visa.

OK. Yes, I read somewhere that only Los Angeles does it on the West Coat of the U.S. I was wondering about K.L. I will definitely research it.
