This TM30 sounds like a hassle and confusing to me. So if you get your Thai partner to do the check-in, the hotel doesn’t ask for your passport? Even though they see you are also sharing the same room?
I should also mention that in my conversation with BOI, the five year check-in is with BOI, not immigration. At this five year check-in, BOI just wants to verify if any changes to financials/health insurance to meet or not meet requirements. There was no requirement to meet with immigration. The e-visa we already received stated 10 year visa.
This is good to know. Thank you for the detail. I can see this could be a headache for those that do 90 days check-ins. For those with LTR visas, how will immigration ever “catch up” with verifying your address. For example, you traveled abroad and reset your one year clock. Immigration at airport does not check address right? Don’t they only check passport and visa. So LTR never has to do a one year report with the immigration office in person. If this international travel repeats every year, when will you ever have an address problem with immigration after reporting TM30 the first time? Very new and just curious how the process does/will work.
Thank you for helping me to clarify. There’s no fee to apply for LTR. After you are approved, then there is a fee of 50,000 THB to get the visa. Actually my husband just got his visa outside Thailand and paid $1,600 USD to the Thai Embassy in USA.
Do you know the TM30 reporting requirement for LTR Visa? I assume by law every immigrant has to report address and address changes via TM30. Granted return from international travel requires filing a TM30 within 24 hours of return to your “permanent” address. My question is if you travel domestically, do you need to report TM30 when you return to your “permanent” address? I don’t feel like I have a good understanding of the TM30 requirements.
Absolutely you can apply for LTR and there’s no cost to apply. It’s an online application. You shouldn’t need a lawyer or agent to apply for you. It is a process and you will need to gather documentation. If you need to call the BOI office, they are very helpful. I have always been able to reached them on the phone.
Just want to share a data point from my conversation with a BOI representative (in Thai language). I was told the clock does reset to one year each time you leave and enter the country. However, if you do not leave Thailand within a one year period, you will need to check-in with immigration. (The BOI representative did not know how the one year check-in process is done at immigration.)
