You should be fine, but if you worry, enter by land, indeed, in case of rejection you can just try the next border point, no big cost.

Surprised nobody suggested it but you can just get a DTV for your wife, you only need to show 500k baht on a bank account (can be foreign) at the moment you're making the visa, else no requirement to keep them on a Thai bank account for some period of time, and she'd be good for 5 years.

Pete Rogers I concur with others, don't bother with a tourist visa at the moment, just get 60 days visa exemption on arrival then extend +30 days in country if needed. No hassles.
