get the job lined up before you get here. It is not easy to get a work permit after you arrive and there are many fishy schools which will give you a job but never the correct visa. If you have to delay your arrival and you're intent on being in Thailand and working a job, apply on line from your home country.

I keep a copy of the WISE transfer receipt which shows the date, the amount, the recipient and the reason for the deposit. If the immigration asks for it I will present it.

That is true. It's a "pay to play" kind of policy. Good if you have an accident or sudden illness unrelated to a pre-existing condition. Hiring an agent is also "pay to play" but won't help in case of an accident.

AXA easy care insurance is specifically to satisfy retirement visa requirements. Costs about $600/yr. Company is good and policy okay.

I’m on the OA visa, 70 yrs old, and it’s ok. Lock in the price as there are age cut off points.
