I agree. I think renting a room/condo for 1-2 months is the way to go. You can get a room for as little as B2k-B3k in BKK. That way you won't have to forfeit any significant money (1 month's key deposit in a guesthouse etc - less than a full blown apartment/house) and when you return to BKK, you can just 'rough it out' in the cheap ensuite room. It will still be a good standard of living, comparatively.

yeah, mate. Especially right now, winter's coming and ppl in the uk are having to choose between food and heating. So much shoplifting & homelessness. They're still good, kind-hearted ppl.

it's beginning to look that way, brother. It seems people don't want to think about their own entitlement. I've been a security guard in the past, too. Most people who have weapons are just scared, most ppl who steal are looking for excitement or are just hungry (not in this case) but they're all just people. They just need a chat.
