Hope this info helps someone. I received my DTV successfully a few days ago from the Thai embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia (took 4 days) using Muay Thai Fever Gym in Chiang Mai (B15,000 for 6 months -1 private lesson per week[or fewer months if you choose to have more lessons a week, I guess]). Derry (the gentleman who does the admin) turned out to be extraordinarily thorough in doing the paperwork; he provided everything necessary and the embassy only looked at a few of the documents. The gym also has champion πŸ† instructors, really really positive people and very good equipment. πŸ‘ 10 mins from Nimman Hemin Rd.

Jakarta was full of really nice and friendly people who bent over backwards to make sure I was OK/happy; people in the embassy, restaurant workers, taxi drivers, kids in the street saying hello to me and giving me hi πŸ‘‹ 5's. Only downside was the pollution. It was also very cheap to stay there. I stayed at 'Ameera Inn' for 6 days (B2,000).

Yep, I bungled some stuff on my end but Derry went above & beyond and sent me some paperwork I had left in Chiangmai. If he can get ME through the process, he can help anyone get a muay thai visa.

Yep, I was only going to take a look around but the gentleman who runs the place and the trainers were so unassumingly generous and welcoming, I ended up training for 1 session.

I still haven't trained a 2nd session, yet. The other gym goers seemed humble but were able to train hard.

The craziest thing is that the trainer I was working with turned out to be Mr Boonlai, 2 time Lumpini champion πŸ† πŸ₯‡. I thought he looked familiar but didn't put 2 n 2 together until Derry told me. Boonlai is like the muay thai equivalent of Chris Eubank, in boxing, yet so humble and patient with the overweight likes of me. Lol.

Nothing kind about them, Derry. Just facts. Great gym, πŸ‘. Easygoing people.

Humility and patience are important for trainers, so it is great for you to have found a reputable, well qualified gym. When you train more the weight will drop off. although it is very hard in Thailand with so much tempting food everywhere

You're not wrong, Andi. I've had 2 giant meals today.

I'm sure it must be frustrating for masters of any craft watching the uninitiated botch moves that they themselves have perfected over decades but they seem to be easygoing and empathetic enough to adopt the patience required. I find that very humbling.

I wouldn't expect Brock Lesnar or the Undertaker to patiently advise me while I unsuccessfully attempt to try to throw them around but here I am in Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡, in the privileged position of having living legends hold pads for me. Crazy.
