It’s beginning to look like pre October 31st OA’s are being treated differently to those post 31st and new extensions linked to an original OA. This seems appropriate. Let’s hope the reports of being only stamped in for 30 days and being told to sort out getting insurance at BKK were just teething troubles. Fingers crossed 🤞

One change that occurred in KL over the past two years, according to their checklist is that they now require fully authenticated degree certificates, not just originals.

Good news! So far I have read 4 first hand reports of people entering with a pre Oct 31st OA visa. 2 allowed in with no questions asked and 2 being given entry for 1 month and told to get insurance sorted within the month then fly out and return to get a full stamp in. All at BKK this week. Let’s hope they decide on a common approach and that is the one you experienced.

You are not on an OA visa, or an extension of an OA visa, therefore you do not require health insurance. For mandatory health insurance to be required you must have originally purchased an OA visa in your home country. You didn’t, so your fine.

Unless they changed their minds again in the last six months, Phuket does require you to file after out of province stay. If you go in person with your passport and previous TM30 slip that should be in your passport, they will quickly update it. (You must have the previous slip and of course be returning to the same address).

it’s odd, the OA visa I got in London has a valid from date to a year later. I don’t know if Canberra made a mistake or they do it differently.

Here is a screen shot from the Aetna website explaining the process. It’s the same as I was told by Pacific Cross.

trying to get this info out there. I spoke with Pacific Cross and was told that the insurance certificate is required to be shown at immigration when entering if your new OA visa does not have the annotation from the embassy after 31st October. and also that Immigration will have access to a shared database of those insured via an approved Thai company. Your permitted to stay stamp is no longer for 1 year but until the expiry of your insurance.

I’m happy to hear the news. I certainly remember reading her many posts 🤓
