TLDR : Answer Summary
A user reported successfully entering Thailand using a Non Immigrant O-A visa without being asked for health insurance, which is a common concern following new regulations introduced on October 31, 2019. Various comments discuss differing experiences at the airport, some receiving only a 30-day stamp due to lacking health insurance, while others were allowed a full year. The conversation highlights inconsistencies in immigration practices and the importance of health insurance for visa holders.

Very good point
@R**
and as we know it is the passport holder who is in the end responsible for the correct dates in the stamp. But I can understand that if you get 1 year of stay, you're not really willing to ask the Immigration Officer, sorry sir. madam is this correct as I do not have any health insurance and I do not match the criteria to get 1 year of stay.

@Robert ******
from what I understand it's when applying for or renewing an O-A visa you must have insurance I can't find anything stating that people with pre Oct 31 O-A are required when exiting and returning which I'm going to have to do

Ask 5 persons and you get 5 total different views about this police order. Look at comments and you get even more different views, common sense is no health insurance at all, I don't think so, but it is what people make of it. Who is correct? We just have to read what people like to share and hope it will get into a stream of same ways of working.

yes i understand. It was the person that went to immigration that really got me thinking.

I just cannot believe at an International airport there can be such a difference on the entry requirements for the same visa.

Something, somewhere isn't correct.

The problem of course, as we know is the huge repercussions of having an incorrect stamp. Particularly once you run it over 90 day's.

In case anyone is not familiar with the term immigration use of 'mutatis mutandis' and what it actually means

Agreed Ron it’s the same as the reporting thing all doing things differently,

no problem. It wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. Just the situation that appears to be developing.

Something is bugging me about this and it's this.

Across the Internet, there are a number of reports of people only being given 30 days and told to get insurance, leave and then come back.

Others have not been asked and were given a stamp as per normal for 12 months.

One person who was only issued 30 days was advised by another poster to go to immigration and get the stamp looked at and changed to 12 months. I believe the immigration office was CW. They actually confirmed that the 30 day stamp was indeed correct as he had no insurance and couldn't be issued a 12 month stamp.

Now here is the thing. I just hope that those people being stamped in for 12 months, somewhere along the line, are not deemed to of been stamped in wrongly and the stamp reverted under this section 4 thing. 120 days in, that may have serious consequences.

It don't effect me, but if it did, I would have some serious concern if this this stamp for 12 months is correct or not.

Only those effected can decide or enquire.

it is a report of a person who entered Thailand using the Non Immigrant O-A visa, which he got before and now used after the extra requirement of health insurance which came into effect on 31 Oct 2019.

Good news! So far I have read 4 first hand reports of people entering with a pre Oct 31st OA visa. 2 allowed in with no questions asked and 2 being given entry for 1 month and told to get insurance sorted within the month then fly out and return to get a full stamp in. All at BKK this week. Let’s hope they decide on a common approach and that is the one you experienced.

Do you know if they entered with an OA Visa or extension thereof? May make a difference?

The big question which everybody is asking: Do you have a health insurance, if yes, is this a Thai Company, did the Immigration ask for proof, how did you proof?
