How can I attach multiple pages of bank statements for my OA visa application to the London Embassy?

I think this counts as visa related and I think the answer will be helpful to others.

I’m currently preparing an online OA visa submission for the London Embassy. At the end of the process you have to attach JPEG’s of size less than 0.5 Mb. I’ve managed to do this for most things however it only seems to accept one file per requirement. I need to attach 12 pages of bank statements for the financial proof requirement. I can only attach one page (1 file). Has anyone found out how to attach multiple pages? Thanks

Edit: it appears you can add pdf files.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing an online OA visa submission for the London Embassy and needs to attach multiple pages of bank statements for financial proof. Initially, they found that only one file per requirement could be attached, but later discovered they could submit PDF files instead. After some effort, they combined and resized their documents to successfully upload everything needed. The user also shared their successful application experience, highlighting updated procedures in the e-visa process.

Congratulations Stuart Russell. Glad you were successful in getting your O-A visa from the UK 😉 I close commenting.

Oh, and on the account page your application status starts as fee paid (and remains as this until after you have delivered original documents. If they accept your application it then changes to “printing sticker”.

Last update. Successful application today! Had my appointment this morning. Delivered original documents that had already been uploaded (plus a few extra bank statements that I could not fit in the pdf file). All accepted and will collect visa tomorrow. The new procedure for the e visa process is actually an additional step. As taking in originals and collection is the same as before. The amount of documents needed and copies thereof have been reduced though, when compared to my previous application 2 years ago.

OK. Good news! I have managed to attach all my required documents! I did this by rescanning the documents at the lowest dpi I had ( thanks for the suggestion above) 75 dpi. For single page files this made all files small enough to attach as pdf files. The bank statement file, I combined 6 pages into 1 pdf file, then had to reduce the file size further using free software online. Using 75 dpi scans and having only 6 pages I managed to get a file size of 0.4 mb, which was less than the maximum 0.5 mb. Hard work and it took me several hours overall. Its done though. I will not actually submit application until next week as that is when I return to UK and will collect the last piece of paperwork (criminal record check) which is waiting for me at my UK address.

Stuart Russell there is an option to register as a travel agency in order to do bookings for clients who need visas to travel. You would still need each clients passport and the requirements don't change.

How difficult it is to register as an agent, I don't know.

With the data laws in place, I guess not easy. I guess they will want IATA certification etc

I think it will be a very serious problem for the many applicants going forward who are not overly computer literate. So, I predict it will be an opportunity for “agents”.

Not sure how the bright sparks on the darkside forum are going to cope with this.....the majority are so thick they cannot even create an account 🤔

I can see an online business opportunity for you here, scanning and compressing people's visa applications 😂

I didn’t see any reference to pdf files. However it definitely accepts them now. (I think they may have tweaked it since Saturday as when I first tried to upload one it wouldn’t accept it). The manual definitely states jpg only.
Ron *******
Stuart Russell excellent news. Does it actually show now to be able to attach PDF files or still showing as JPEG but accepts as PDF?
Ron *******
How abouts if you attach them as a PDF file?
Ron *******
Stuart Russell yes great. Thank you for keeping us all informed.

Although it states how to do it, your the only one here that has actually tried it.

Hopefully,
@T**
will keep the thread open and just delete anything taking it off topic so as you can add again how it's going.

Thanks once again

I’ve stopped for today. I’ll go to round 3 tomorrow. I’ll keep you updated 🤓

Stuart Russell ok good. You might be getting there! I'm pretty certain it won't let you submit the application or even move on in the menu unless it has everything attached anyway. I think if you get stuck on part of it, the system saves it and you can go back in to the file system and retrieve it to carry on later......don't take my word for it though if it all disappears 😂😂😂

yes I think so. I added the medical certificate as a pdf. It doesn’t show anything on the actual screen like the jpeg files, but if you hit preview it does show up.

@Stuart ********
did you get it to accept PDF format?

@Ron ******
so glad I started preparing application 2 weeks before I need it approved!

I'm now wondering if only JPEG is referring to your profile picture etc?

It's certainly not very clear BUT we will be experts at online application by the end off the day! 🤔
Ron *******
Excellent! It doesn't show PDF files can be uploaded from an Android OS phone either. I too haven't looked using a computer 😂

Yes it does indeed say only Jpeg files in the manual.

I just logged in again using my iPad as opposed my laptop. It appears you can indeed add PDF files (unless I’m going mad it really did say JPEG’s only earlier).

worth a try... I have emailed them. Just waiting for a reply. 🤓

Stuart Russell I just had a read through the manual. It says each scan or file should be no bigger than 200kb. I wonder if you get them smaller than that size, say 50kb you can then upload multiple files to a 0.5mb total?
Ron *******
If you don't delete that file above, it will default to that type of visa class only

One more thing. If you start an application and then decide you want to apply for another type of visa, you need to go in and clear that application from the files section or the site will default to you only being able to apply for the previous type of visa.

I am just looking now but I need to go out. Perhaps drop them an Email via the link on page after you have logged in?

yes I managed to get all my individual files down to about 0.1 mb. The problem I’m having now is trying to get 12 or more pages (files) combined to 0.5 mb and being readable at the other end. It only allows one file to be uploaded per proof. So that’s fine for medical certificates etc as there is only one page. The financial proof, combined method on one page? I’m at a loss 🤪
Ron *******
Stuart Russell ah ok. I played around with the site the other night but never got in to if PDF files could be uploaded. It has to be possible to send multiple 0.5 mb files surely?

I'd try to see what DPI you're scanning them in. I'd imagine no more then 300 DPI if they are planning on printing it, or maybe 72 DPI if they are planning on viewing it on a screen?

good idea, I scanned all my documents as PDF’s first. However I discovered only jpg accepted on website 😢

Thankfully the online has not reached Canada but I took a look at the documentation back in March because I was curious. What I saw looked like it was going to be a white hot mess. It sounds like you are living it now.

Tim Kretschmer The online system is not well designed at all. I can see many less computer literate pensioners being completely unable to use it. I’ve spent hours, scanning and resizing loads of documents so far. Then found you can’t actually add more than one file. So now I will be spending more hours combining, then resizing these merged files!
Tim ************
i just worry the file size, but you could scale them down as much as possible while readable, make it 1 big jpg and then play around with the compression. probably possible.

in general are 500kb attachmants a joke. welcome to third world internet :eyeroll:
