If you are on an overstay already, disregard the following.

If you plan on staying longer than your extension allows, you could apply for one more extension at your corresponding immigration office with the intention of purposely getting denied. Once it's denied, immigration will give you 1 week to leave the country. It costs the same as a successful extension.

Many people do it and immigration understands this trick too. As long as they get money, they'll gladly do this in your favor.

The 1900 baht fee is cheaper than the 500฿ × 7 days = 3,500฿ of overstay.

Not to mention risking getting deported if found before you exit.

There's no farang price.

There's no Thai price.

There's only honest and dishonest price.

If their mentality is to charge high because you are a westerner you can always offer them lower than the honest price because they're Thai.

Same thinking process...

Could it be possible to buy a house, including the land in the name of a Thai national (relative through marriage) and rent the house and land to your self for 100 years?

One can cut the line for 1k baht.

I was offered this by a random man soliciting his "service".

After I declined, he later offered a 2 people for 1k baht deal.

I had seen some people magically be inside the consulate before the doors had opened using crutches and then again magically walk fine right after leaving.

I'm not saying you should, but.... 5555

It's also possible to hire a tuktuk driver for around 100 baht to bring you to the consulate before the queue starts.

Or you could be one of the last by arriving 30 minutes before closing time and sit at the waiting area in the consulate.

I hope at least someone has a better experience.

Make sure that your buddy's notification of address is confirmed properly and he can prove it.

Last time I went, the officer didn't do his job and I wasn't recorded as reported and I still had to pay the 2000 baht fine. It counted as 3 months of not reporting.
