But just to make sure, I will not overstay even if I cancel work permit and extension of stay in advance as long as it says permitted to stay until March 14th, right? And the paper that I need is the termination letter from school stating they will allow me to stay until March 14th as well.

there was a mistake made. My extension of stay is until March 14th and my contract with school ends March 30th

So what's my best bet? Cancel a month in advance my work permit and extension of stay but still permitted to stay until March 14th or do all the cancellations on the last day -March 14th and get out within that day?

I plan to go to Laos Vientiane and apply for tourist visa after all these. Am I not gonna have problems entering back Thailand?

So when I have to leave the country, do I still have to go back to the immigration or can I just leave on the permitted up to date day after I already cancelled it a month in advance?

thanks for clarifying that. I'm also confused cause I read from someone's post that when he cancelled his work permit 6 days before his permitted to stay expires, when he was already at the airport he was overstay for 6 days cause after cancelling his work permit they also cancelled his extension of stay. So what I have to do is ask the school to put on the termination letter that says I'm allowed to stay until extension of stay expires even though cancelling it a few weeks in advance, right?
