Hi everyone! Has someone recently applied for a tourist visa in Penang? Do they ask for proofs of onward travel, funds, and accommodation? Thanks! I have a Philippine passport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a tourist visa at the Thai consulate in Penang, applicants will need to provide proof of funds, onward travel, and accommodation. Specifically, a bank statement, a confirmed hotel booking, and a paid onward travel ticket within 60 days are typically required.

Yes they do

, As people stated the thai consulate in Vientiane is the ONLY thai consulate in the area that requires NO proof of funds, onward travel or hotel booking.

All the rest of them require some or all of those things.

The fact that you can be asked when stamping into the country for the same 3-proof-ofz (CASH, onward travel & hotel) is a completely different thing entirely.

When you apply at a thai consulate for a tourist visa that requires proof of funds you show a bank account and when you stamp into the country IF they ask for proof of funds you show CASH.

Thanks! Tod, do you know if making the online appointment in Vientiane has maximum numbers of persons applying in a day? Or how soon should you make an appointment before arriving there? Many thanks!

you can ask your friend to write you a letter and sign it with their ID attached or copy of their lease? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t know about that.

thanks. Regarding the proof of hotel. What if your proof is staying at a friend's house? Is that possible?
Jennifer ****
@Bebe ******
you still should have them when entering. Regardless of if you need them for the visa. They can deny you entry if you don’t have

1) 20,000 thb in cash

2) flight out

I just heard from before that Vientiane doesn't require proofs

@Bebe ******
you will need to have those proofs when entering Thailand too (can be asked at immigration as well) so it’s best to have them ready.

🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s easy everywhere. You just have to give the papers they ask for. I would think Vientiane requires the same. But check their website for requirements
