I was a bit confused on the "Bureau of Investigation only" bit. Florida does not have a State Bureau of Investigation.

Just so I'm understanding - The Embassy requires fingerprints? I know the NC SBI required fingerprints to run a background check. I do not see anything on the Thai Embassy site about including a fingerprint card. (as of yet, still looking)

It's been a while since our last visa - covid kept us here. Are you saying the "Florida Dept of Law Enforcement" background check will not be accepted by the Thai DC Embassy? Sorry for all the questions, but so much has changed.

Thanks, didn't know if it would go on the Green card date, or her Passport date... Sent email to Embassy, no reply yet. If we go and renew her passport in Thailand, then would have to go to Immigration for a new date stamp, or would have to leave country?

Thanks for the reply. Previous OA, we were living in NC, and for the NC SBI check, fingerprints were required. Here in FL, there is no "SBI" it's the "Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement". Got a check last yr, and no fingerprints required here. Didn't know if this was a acceptable check for the Embassy.

Thanks for your take. We left at the end of '19 for a US visit. Got caught in the US by travel restrictions. We usually divide our time between the US, Thailand, and Vietnam - so not really a holiday. Have a visa exemption for Vietnam, but is rather worse there than Thailand it seems. Besides we prefer living in Thailand.

What's your take on the easing of restrictions? Shouldn't that help fuel a bit of "normalcy"? I've not read - but with the easing of restrictions, will the sale of alcohol in restaurants resume? I'm guessing bars will remain closed. We will keep a eye on happenings, and reapply for OA visas maybe mid/late Sept. Depending... lol.

there are (were?) a couple good cambo forums, khmer440 and cambodianexpatsonline. Maybe some good info there. I've only been once, and was about 15 yrs ago. Didn't really care for it. Besides, my wife is Viet, was there in the Army. She don't like it... lol. (she did save me from getting robbed, cause she speaks Khmer). Us? Can't wait to get back to Thailand...

Pop a email to the embassy, asking. Keep the reply, if positive, and send the email with your application. I asked about joint named account for my and my wife's application, got a answer in a couple days
