so your source is a guy quoting the website of what aparticular embassy is doing. the formal postings from the thai govt I have seen address non-thai residents who reside legally in Thailand and does not distinguish between types of visas.
that embassy information seems not to address O visas as O Visa are not issued outside Thailand.
my level of compassion is aligned with the level of judgment that some demonstrated in the choices they made.
u really think they've opened the borders for those visas and left out the O? You do understand what is still involved in any individual returning? Where are all the returning OA and OX ers? You really can't understand why the situation is as it is?
why did do many depart the country when red flags were everywhere, or if already out of the country, why didnt they hurry and get back here before borders closed? have read in other posts, people complaining about having left Thailand to go on a holiday as the virus was rearing its ugly ahead all across Asia and the world, and now havent been able to return. true, this doesnt apply to all eager to return, but to many.
I wasnt aware of the amount, but just a year ago, at cw in bkk, my friend, when applying for an extension, was told his business was not making enough revenue-- he wasn't sure if it was immigration law or just an IO telling him-- he finally got an extension but just 6 months, then renewed again, as he was wise enough to declare more income, and pay taxes on it-- since then, no more than the usual problems.
I think if income is too low, they may believe u are not running a true business, but an operation just to stay in the country.
David Broadfoot yes, it was a side note on the issue of opening a business here, as is done by many posters. I am guessing in all the posts u comment on, u have never strayed from the original poster's circumstances. if "no straying" was the rule, there'd be very few posts as most share related stories and experiences-- and I do understand how harmful that can be, we'd certainly not want anyone to learn something from a poster's related experiences. afterall group title does include, "... and everything else."
David Broadfoot I did not indicate it was salary-- it was not salary- it was revenue from the business he was operating. and his non-o was almost not extended , this was at cw, bkk-- because, apparently, they didnt either believe he was declaring all revenue, or using it as a means just to stay in the country. the docs he had to supply were extensive to e en get the non-o-- photos of his office, the outside business sign in English and thai , etc, etc, in the end, they granted him a 6 month extension, then another, when he showed increased revenues.
sorry if you dont believe it, but it's just possible you don't know everything.
and remember, there are restricted areas in which a foreigner may open a business-- what u describe for the food business
"Needs to be high food traffic, quick and easy to produce, tasty. And priced right."
that's exactly what's done by the multitude of thai food carts, all over key "food traffic areas" , all across bkk, Chiang mai, and everywhere in Thailand, all selling every variation of thai food one can imagine-- they produce it quick and easy, it's tasty ( or they wont have repeat customers) and priced very well, so thai rather buy their food than make it themselves.
as for expats, tourists, plenty of KFC, mac's, Burger King, pizza, and now bkk has taco bell.
