so if I understand it correctly, the only difference between them is 30 days vs 60 days.

It doesn’t really decrease the chances of denial at immigration?

I always thought that getting a visa at the embassy decrease the chances of any potential problems at the border checkpoint irrespective of the number of days.

to go through the process. On my first day, they only verified tm30 and attached a verification slip to my passport. Then I had to come back on the last day on which I was allowed to see the IO. They also kept the passport for 1 day so I had to go again the next day to collect it. From what I understand, jomtien immigration is over worked and takes a much longer time than say - krabi immigration.

Bottom line is that my visa expired on 15th and I got my passport back on 16th.

okay, then I will probably consider just going to Laos for an hour or so.

so if we get visa exempt, border bounce would make more sense as it saves time and money? Or am i missing something?

so basically I can skip visa agencies and still return to Thailand on the same day through thr nong khai border?

They wouldn’t create problems even though I have already spent 60 days here(and 4 months last year)?

Last time when my passport was eligible for VoA(15 days), I read on the internet that Nong Khai border allows VoA but the Laos immigration did not let me go and asked me to get a proper visa first because if they reject VoA, then I would be sent back.

I recently did an extension at jomtien. I went 4-5 days before but they gave me a date to come on the date of expiry after verifying tm30.

Immigration doesn’t really like border/visa runs and can deny you entry.

I am trying to minimise the chances of that happening.

So 135 days in the last year doesn’t raise red flags, right?

I am mostly worried that they might see the extension and then ask why I came back within 1 day when I already stayed for 60 days(45 this year).

i read on reddit that the IO told someone to not just turn around and come back again but rather alteast spend a night outside the country.

Also, my passport was recently made eligible for visa exempt which makes me more skeptical.
