How many days before your current 30 day tourist visa expires can you can go to Jomtien to extend for another 30 days? (I have seen some reviews saying you have to go on day of expiry)

TLDR : Answer Summary
In general, it's advised to go to Jomtien for a visa extension within the last week of your current visa validity. Many users suggest that being within 5 days of expiration is ideal. Some have reported being told to return on the expiration date after an initial verification; however, experiences may vary, and it’s usually recommended to handle the extension before the actual expiration date.

Can you extend it from chiang Mai

I recently did an extension at jomtien. I went 4-5 days before but they gave me a date to come on the date of expiry after verifying tm30.
to go through the process. On my first day, they only verified tm30 and attached a verification slip to my passport. Then I had to come back on the last day on which I was allowed to see the IO. They also kept the passport for 1 day so I had to go again the next day to collect it. From what I understand, jomtien immigration is over worked and takes a much longer time than say - krabi immigration.
Bottom line is that my visa expired on 15th and I got my passport back on 16th.
when they gave you the date to come back on day of expiry, was it just to collect or go through process?

eg. Expired 30 january, you should go IO between 25 - 29 january to avoid any possible problem. In practice there is many people coming to extend on the same date as expiration date

You must be within your final week. Best to be within 5 days. This is one of the few offices with this type of requirement.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.
It is cheaper than visaexcempt + 30 days extension.
No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.
It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).
No need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.
