from what I have seen with bank accounts is solely dependant on visa you hold your assets can assist you in getting visa as I mentioned. Marriage visa seems to be the quickest way to get a bank account my understanding it comes with an income requirement like retirement

nope none that I know of owning property has no affect on bank accounts or visa you can own land on visa exempt however owning land does count to a few visas for example the LTR 10 year visa the account for ownership or investment into thai economy but that is for high end earners like in the millions - in thai baht

yes but not all apply sadly like the ed visa depends where your visa is for. If the school or classes you attend are certified for 4 years then it can apply but they are strict with the ed visa as well. Im on ed visa and I been to 4 banks and denied going from june if this year. What I been told by the banks

-marriage

-retirement

- LTR 10 yr visa

-VIP visa

-work permit

Are the ones that get account easily

no fees on currency conversion ? Which card do you have when i had visa or my master card they charged a currency conversion fee im talking credit card vs debit
Andrew ********
You need a long term visa DTV no longer eligible for bank accounts. Marriage visa / retirement - perm resident visa or the like ed visa qualify if you are attending a 4 year program
Andrew ********
You credit card issuer will charge conversion fees / international fees id check with them. I would honestly pull cash off a debit card for day to day use it will be alot cheaper on you

You have to be out of thailand for it

Yes - you can keep your benifits in your US account or if you can get a thai bank opened you can deposit your benifits directly into a thai bank they convert for you and no fees but you can not split it has to be 100% deposit. VA care is dependant on what you are disabled for some clinics direct bill some you have to pay up front and they reimburse you but will only cover what you are actually raited for - due to the DTA between thailand and the US your VA benifits will not be taxed in thaialnd either and my understanding any state benifits you get as well
