I have COR, TM30, utility bill from mobile, didn’t matter. Every branch told me three weeks ago they could have opened but not anymore. WTF people are supposed to do is a genuine question now. Whilst I understand that the Banks are trying to protect themselves from fraud we are all just trying to to adhere to the stipulations laid down by the Government!!
Hopefully this is just a temporary measure until things play out
no Kbank branches local to me are prepared to open an account for my situation. Their requirements are either yellow house book or married. A Non O visa for retirement is not acceptable without the extra requirements.
Every single Branch has told me that this is a new direction given to them within the last few weeks. Not just Kbank but SCB as well.
I’ve tried many branches now and all the same answer. I’m visiting friends and was hoping easier in Pattaya
perfect. I hope it goes well. It took me three days and numerous branches. I got there in the end with Krungthai. Not the best bank but at least I’m set now. Just be patient. Some great advice on here.
Having just gone through this in the last two weeks I can confirm yes it can be very difficult based on location. Hopefully by the time you get here things may of settled down.
My advice is to seek advice from people with RECENT experience in the area you want to open an account.
Or
Use an agent. That’s probably the easiest solution and could be worth it when you’re on a timeline getting the 800K seasoned (visa type dependant of course)
Some great advice on this but it’ll only be relevant WHEN you arrive. It can get out of date pretty quickly at the moment.
I’m just relaying what the bank staff said to us at both Kasikorn and SCB and the reason they were informed not to open accounts in that area. Fraud/corruption a play on words but the same thing. The corrupt staff were opening accounts to allow fraud. That was the exact incident referred to us by those banks we visited. Hope that clears up my comment
