I think you need an active plan to receive text messages, when I added the 3 day plan it only worked for the three days then back to no service in Aus.

Unfortunately they disabled that a while ago. You used to be able to receive SMS messages outside the country without and international plan but now you need an active plan that allows roaming to receive SMS messages with true. I have tested this from Australia and nothing would come through until I added a 3 day roaming plan.

yes it is linked but doesn't mean they won't ask to see it, I was asked on my last visit in November to show it at immigration. Copy on your phone will probably be ok but was easier to just show the printed copy.

While it's unlikely you will be asked for anything by the IO you could be asked and should have everything to meet the entry requirements.

yeah I have never heard of an Aussie being asked to show it, I have only ever been asked to show onward ticket and accommodation, but as it's a requirement I always have it on me just incase.

I have never been asked either but it is a requirement to have it in CASH on you and if you get an IO that's following all the rules it can be used to deny your entry, showing a bank balance doesn't cover it, so better to be safe and follow the rules just incase you are asked to show it. Personally I would always have more then that is cash anyway.

That's about it, just add a zero to money, need to have equivalent to 20,000 baht, so $1k AUD will cover it, not that they normally ask to see it but better to have it just incase.

Entry requirements are that you have an onward ticket in you visa exempt period, you have sufficient funds in cash on you in any curry and you can show proof of accommodation, so if you have all that and you don't have a history of overstaying then you shouldn't be denied entry so you will just use your return ticket.
