- sorry its just a bit personal and difficult but it was partly generic and I got an overwhelming response that the money would most likely never be seen again
It's actually to protect my sisters money. I think she will ever see it again and thought something in writing might at least offer some protection.
I am hoping it won't be necessary but from what I have seen concerning the beneficiaries it will never be seen again. Let's put it this way it wouldn't be my money.
It's brilliant has up to the minute live market rates.
What I do is set up a transfer having checked the rates...I then take it if I think it will go down on the day...I check how long they are guaranteeing the rate and I select the option 'make bank transfer later'....if rate goes up within the time frame I take another at the point of wanting to complete and cancel the earlier one...this gives me basically more money especially if the transfer is a fair bit.
If you do it this way its the cheapest in terms of their fees. So to be clear it is set it up but use I'll transfer it later and when you are ready to complete you transfer from your bank account into Wise account...its that simple.
I also have a BKK account and intend to look into other options when I return but tbh if you take the cash out you need for the day it's not a problem apart from security...this is why I will try and get an app/online option when I return ππΌ
As others have said seems like you have been unlucky and walked into the wrong branches.
I spoke to my girlfriend earlier and asked what papers they wanted and it was a copy of my passport, her Thai house book and she said that she had to give a copy of her Thai ID card and sign a 'guarantor' form in relation to me...hope this helps π³
- I said I would have been getting pretty angry...I don't give up or into bureaucracy but obviously it's normal for such problems in Thailand...I try to avoid such situations with good planning.
I think the OP has been unlucky he needs to keep going
- where are you trying to open it...mine is with Bangkok Bank too but we opened it in Bua Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima province. Have you tried calling BKK helpline and complaining...seems to me people either don't know what they are doing or are acting beyond their authority. I suppose it's Thailand so maybe normal I think I would be getting pretty angry if I was there lol πππ
Not sure if anyone else has said the same but maybe it's the 'tourist visa'. I had no problem but was on a Non Immigrant O...have you thought to ask to see their T & C's...they shouldn't be just making things up all I can say was it was very easy for me...I am guessing but I think the Visa may be the issue π€
