Anonieme deelnemer 593 Do you really think this whole discussion is about some people are to stingy to pay some fee at ATM? And that in a country with such low cost of living?

Maybe the fact you say "I live" and not "I stay" says it all, you just did choose the wrong visa. With the right visa you would be able to open a bank account.

BrilliantMouse3131 then find another bank, it is your card issuer that decides about exchange rate, don't choose to let ATM do conversion.

Anonieme deelnemer 205 visa run is not really what you should call an option, it is using a loophole. You can be sure no country in the world is designing a visa to have this feature, but it is difficult to prevent if you want the visa to be flexible. Some countries do this by allowing a maximum number of days in a certain period. If they really wanted you to stay longer, they would not have limited the extension to only once. And with the remark that it is same as a non immigrant visa extension you are spreading incorrect info yourself, the number of extensions on non-o is not limited like on DTV

Anonieme deelnemer 205 what other DTV options need full time stay? I can't think of any.

BrilliantMouse3131 Then choose a better card for a good exchange rate, it is not the Thai bank that decides about the exchange rate, but your bank.

Local rules are just not OK, but when nobody does a local extension, they never learn how it works

And a trip outside the country might be nice, but I like to travel at the moment I want, and that is not necessary at the same time I need a new stamp, at least it wasn't when there was no DTV and I stayed on TR visa.

For me DTV solved all border runs, because 180 days a year is enough for me anyway, when I need longer time I will get the appropiate visa for that.

Each stay can be extended once at an immigration office.

Of course you have to show you still comply with visa requirements, but that should not be a problem.

You can use same documents, when necessary updated.

Some people here seem to hate a bit of paperwork a lot, or they just abuse the visa and therefore they cannot extend it in country.

Just ask local immigration for a checklist.

When you planned to travel anyway sometime before 180 days it is a different story, but a borderrun more simple than an in country extension really does not make sense.
