I think that is the only good reason not to choose non-o. People telling DTV is cheaper forget to calculate the cost of continuous softpower and trips to renew the visa
if you need medical treatment for years, DTV might be an option, but apart from having to extend the non-o every year in country at the same month I do not see any advantages in DTV compared with non-o.
I still believe it could be true what OP is telling, maybe his account was flagged by checking algoritmes, and when he was at the bank office the manager could tell they were checking all foreigner accounts, because the manager doesn't like to tell they flagged his account.
Anybody can have an opinion about relevance, but only the opinion of the embassy counts, and they put in the application what they see as relevant. And finding the info you need in 50 pages is far more difficult than in 1 or 2 pages. I guess youvnever had to do such yourself. To me it does not matter if you agree or not, I just explain how processing of files is working. The OP provided too much and that might be the reason they just ask again, so they get only the needed documents uploaden and don't need to explore the whole file.
I do not see the published information as instructions to bankemployees, it is just an explanation of bank policy. It is not a policy against DTV holders. The bank can just ask you what visa you are on. When they want to cleanup foreign accounts, they just might analyze the use of the account with a number of algoritmes.
It is not up to you or me to decide which documents are relevant. The embassies decided what they need, and that is just asked in the application form. When they need extra information they wil ASK for it. Why make it more difficult for them?
