If you're in a hurry to get things sorted book to Phuket. it's by far the easiest way and place least likely to change. Currently you have to do 7 days on the island at a designated hotel but you're free to roam the island as soon as you get your first negative PCR back (normally about 6 hours after arrival). Bangkok is currently 7 days full board in a hotel that you can't leave. As others have stated there should be an update later as to whether that's being relaxed and a return to test & go but that may not be introduced immediately even if they do okay it
If a long stay then a Wise acccount and a local account if you can open one, then you can take out what you need as necessary and not pay ATM fees which are approx 250 baht per withdrawal plus any charges your bank may charge. If for shorter stay then cash in large denominations. Suoerrich offers best rates apparently but are currently closed in Phuket so if there NC Plus in Phuket town is best (0.3 baht below mid market last time I went)
I'm just curious. The points you make about the issues facing India are mostly valid but I would say many of those issues afflict democracies which I'd wager you'd put in the "civilised" camp, i.e. UK and USA. I'm also interested to know if you come from a country with a history of colonisation because if you dont it may give you an excuse for not realising how deeply offensive your use of the word civilised is in this context.
that is not true..was an early rumour that was dispelled straight away. Could still yet change but I doubt they'll do it so close in time for those already in possession
