Would rather not have to bother with getting to the airport even earlier.

Like to have everything "in order" BEFORE the day of departure.

Yes, you paid extra (beyond the cost of your visa) for the multiple entry re-entry permit.

OK, just called the immigration office. They said my wife DOES have to be there.

(They will need to take a photo of her at the office.)

Guess that's that. ;-)

I have lived here in Thailand since Jan. 1986. Just over 36 years here now.

(I hope you don't think I was criticizing or correcting or trying to refute your post. Just sharing my experience.)

Have a great day!!

For the first decade or so that we lived here in Thailand, you could always know that the exchange rate was 25 baht = one USA dollar. It never really changed at all since the Thai baht at that time was “tied to” the US dollar.

Then came the financial collapse of the late 90’s. Thailand was forced to “cut loose” the Thai baht. That is when it went to more than 50 baht per one USA dollar.

That was a crazy time. Those of us who were receiving our income in USA dollars, suddenly were able to buy everything at half price!

Short answer: "NO". Your drivers license has nothing to do with your Thai visa.

I have lived as an expat in Thailand for more than 35 years. For the vast majority of that time I have not had a valid drivers license. Thai or international. (Mostly I carry around an expired international license. When stopped by the local police, they never seem to notice or care about the date.)

I have owned and driven several different vehicles and never had one bit of difficulty getting insurance coverage.

I have just heard from the tech guy from TRUE / KSC internet providers. They can hook up internet at the place we are wanting to move to.

Have any of you had experience with TRUE / KSC??
