What are the chances of the Thai border being closed in early April due to the COVID-19 pandemic?

I am pretty sure there is no definitive answer for this one but, ...

My daughter has a scheduled appointment at the Thai embassy in Vientiane on April 1. We hope to arrive in Vientiane on Mar. 31 and then get back to Thailand on April 2.

I am wondering what the chances are that the border there will be closed during those dates. :-(

Any ideas or educated guesses?

Trying to make some serious "evidence based" decisions.

In a similar situation also, I was booked to go to Vientiane on 29th March, as my tourist visa expires on 31st. Attempted to contact the embassy and foreign minister on what the best options are right now. As there are so many borders closed. Not sure what else to do.

Yes, we have been seeing this for several days now. It doesn't relate to USA passports.

Did they cancel her appointment?

No word from them.

What type of visa is she trying to get ? I say that because it's possible she doesn't have to leave Thailand. What visa is she on now?

Her present "tourist visa" expires on April 2. She came in from Singapore on Feb. 3 and received 30 days. Then she went to immigration here and received 30 more days.

No more extensions possible in country.

Have you heard of any immigration offices in country granting some kind of "special" extensions. I seriously doubt it. They would have no motivation to do it. My guess is they would simply say, "Go back to your passport country. Get out of here." :-(

You sure?
