A lot of low information commenters here. When Prayuth took over from Yingluck, visa enforcement was tightened up in lots of little ways. Investment incentives through BOI were cut back and so on. The army governments generally lean more right wing and nationalistic and like blaming problems on foreigners.
The actual coup action was a non event for 99% of Bangkokians, no shots were fired, it just happened. But I'd totally expect another army government to reconsider the DTV. DTV is a Pheu Thai program, it's an easy visa, army doesn't like Pheu Thai, and tends to make visas harder.
